The Tale of the Golden Dye

The process failed. It took ten months t’ grow out me rainbow hair.

Quickly I swam towards the sinking chest which had the golden dye, now spread about, slowly fallin’ t’ the ocean floor. I grabbed one, tucked it in me blouse and swam up for air; I was runnin’ out o’ breath and most o’ the other dye had already sunken far too deep for a pirate t’ swim after.

The next day in Argent City, I went t’ Cartel the hairstylist.

I began walking towards me mates, when suddenly the Eagle started shakin’. I could look up just in time to see the massive algae towerin’ above me ship. Next thing I know - I hit water. Ice cold sea water. The slithering green mass of algae ripped my ship to shreds under th’ ever blue mirror of the seas. We were under attack! By the Beardy Pirates, as it seemed. Surely they were after the dye, and wanted to kill me t’ save some trouble.

When I reached the top, the Beardy Pirates were in combat with the Navy Guild. Loud cannons sounded in the air, and I could hear the loud cracks of wood bein’ shattered. The Beardy Pirates had sly tactics and magic, but it wasn’t long before the Navy Guild overpowered them with sheer numbers. A bit later I was rescued and they did a search for me shipmates but they weren’t found, and be still lost t’ this day.

Out in the Deep Blue we were, trying t’ find a sunken vessel t’ salvage. Me mates wanted gold and valuables, but I wanted nothin’ more than dye. Y’see, I had a secret trade line with the Beardy Pirates and they were willing t’ pay a hefty lot for a very rare golden dye. It was only a short matter o’ time until…

It was a bright sunny day; I was aboard an Eagle, travelling with three Voyagers. Bein’ the only one skilled in the craft o’ herbalism put me at an advantage in command but it did not stop the trouble me shipmates gave me because I’m a woman.

Me mate on the look-out spotted a sunken vessel. A fine one it was, with valuable jars and pots floatin’ with the broken wood and torn up cloth. We sailed up close t’ it and prepared t’ salvage the booty. Me mates were busy scatterin’ about and workin’ hard when I noticed the torn up cloth was actually from a Navy Guild flag. Just then, the sunny sky quickly moved t’ a dark, cloudy hell. I called out t’ me mates, but they were busy in celebration, dancin’ around a chest full o’ golden dye.
